That’s an incredible year! Thanks for sharing it with us. Fayetteville was one of my discoveries this year, too. I took the scenic route from St. Louis to Tulsa and spent a very hot night of thunderstorms there. Spending the next morning at Onyx Coffee made it all worthwhile.
What a year! What a great column! You've filled my head with places I long to visit. Those baths!!! And yes, Vienna is incredible. Did you spend any time at the Prater? If not, you have to return so you can ride the enormous ferris wheel with "boxcars" and see that view over the city.
I live right between Springfield, MO and the NW Arkansas cities of Fayetteville, Rogers and Bentonville. It was great to read a shout out of those great cities. Underrated gems of the country for sure.
Nick Flynn! Low was absolutely one of my favorite books of the year— his poem “Kraków” absolutely floored me when I read it in a journal earlier this year, and to find out the forthcoming book it was in was named after the band?? Come on!

Hope your health is top notch soon. 2023 was the year your music finally clicked for me and I took the deep dive and it was fun to follow along on here. So sorry to have been on a big trip and missed the November FW show and also missed SBS because of having just gone on said trip. Hope 2024 is even better for you! Oh and go Chiefs :)
