And here, at long last, is the last demo of Bittersweet, TN. At this point Sam and I had already spent a month in his studio and recorded the official music for the song, now we just needed Erin to come sing on it. So while traveling through Nashville in the summer of 2021 I stopped by her apartment to rehearse the song together for the first time and that’s what you can hear in the above recording. I had this idea of Erin being the first voice you hear in the song instead of mine. I liked the idea of someone putting on a Kevin Morby song and hearing someone else’s voice start the song. Erin is so talented and one of my favorite living singer songwriters and getting to share this song with her has been an absolute honor and i’ll always remember this afternoon of singing across one another at her kitchen table. Erin later came in to finish the song and sing her part the next month at the Sam Phillips Recording Company in Memphis, TN.
