Welcome to the beautiful green room inside the Princess Theatre in Brisbane, Australia.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Princess and am very excited to play here tonight. It sounds beautiful and feels great.
But arguably more important than the beautiful ballroom is how perfect the greenroom is. A good greenroom on tour cannot be over stated, especially on a non bus tour.
Coming up in punk clubs I always thought that graduating to theaters meant also graduating to better greenrooms but this isn’t necessarily the case. A lot of the iconic classic theaters have some of the tiniest, darkest, cold and lonely rooms - which makes sense, given when they were built. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been crammed back stage in a tiny room with all my bandmates before going out to some of my biggest audiences.
anyways, not only is this one spacious with vintage sofas, perfect lighting and a perfect 68 degrees farenheight - it also has a piano.
A “C. Bechstein” upright to be exact, and it’s in tune (for the most part).
I recorded two instrumentals on it before soundcheck with the fodder of my bandmates and the promoter - my old friend Shannon - chatting in the background.
Enjoy
