Harlem River turns ten today!
Happy birthday, baby, you’re aging just fine.
To celebrate there’s a lot going on.
First off - there’s a wonderful short documentary made by Matt Lief Anderson that tracks the evolution of Harlem River as a staple in my live set. Matt has been filming my shows over the years - documenting different line ups and here he weaves countless hours of footage together into one epic performance of the song - showcasing all the different lives the song has lived over the years across various musicians, cities and continents.

Second - there’s a great shirt designed by Robbie Simon up in the shop. You can purchase that here: Harlem River 10 Tee
And lastly, we’re gonna celebrate tonight at Permanent Records - where, ten years ago, I played my first show as a solo artist. Tonights the first of two nights. It’s gonna be a party. Photos and vids to come, i’m sure.
But for now, Happy Birthday Harlem River. You’ve been more than good to me over the years and I wish you many many more. Eternal gratitude to everyone involved in crafting and releasing the album and even more eternities of thanks to those of you for giving it a spin all these years. It means the world.

Love it as much now as I did the first time I saw it live when you and Cate brought the tour through KC! I was mesmerized! So proud!
Can’t wait to see you at Permanent Records Monday night! It’s my 1st time seeing you and the band. My very 1st concert was OCT 19, 1968 at The Fillmore East. It was my 12th birthday! Jeff Beck Group with Rod & Ronnie.
One month later, I saw Jimi Hendrix Experience, followed by Zeppelin, the Stones, The Who and a bunch of other unknowns such as The Ramones, Blondie, Brooce, Patti, Television and now YOU!
Cheers, Matt
